Apple Waffles

 

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1/4 cup cornstarch

  • 1 tablespoon baking powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

  • 1 1/4 cups milk

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 large apple, peeled, cored, and grated

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your waffle maker according to the manufacturer's instructions.

  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the melted butter, milk, and eggs until well combined.

  4. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.

  5. Fold in the grated apple.

  6. Grease the waffle maker with cooking spray or melted butter.

  7. Ladle the batter onto the waffle maker, filling the wells about 3/4 of the way full.

  8. Cook the waffles according to the manufacturer's instructions, until they are golden brown and crisp.

  9. Serve the waffles hot with butter and maple syrup, or your favorite toppings.
